How did you miss the part that says "limiting what (Porc) can do through adjusting user permissions in Xenforo"? It's the biggest part of the post you're quoting and already answers what you're complaining about

I’d like to interject for a moment. What you are referring to as Linux is in fact GNU/Linux or as recently i have taken to calling - GNU+Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself but rather another free component of a full functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

i kinda got used of it... "is it over?" or "they forgot" or "i cant change but i am too valuable to be gone" (i can change but only if knew what is wrong. how i wrote was partly how ideas just flew in my head. so trying to pass runaway train thru sentence will look like diarrhea. mainly when i dont want to forget anything, but from onlooker's side, it looks like making things up on the go; because if i were to even start to explain "how i came up with such (ridiculous) claims", that would be for another of those x2, x3 or few more...

~~~trying~~~... (tried to do that but chat was too fast and too "regarded" for me to even try. no state utopia huh, there cant be "chat" without sex, taboo, bs politics or tete-a-tete w/o. substance... (one time it was cool when halico and other green guy talked; or when we QnA'd babble, but that too devolved into "you think i think you think"-mess). maybe i just want too much.
between quora and reddit, agora was (maybe) quora-substance, reddit-questions... "i am not like other girls", but also, ~just how antice said~, "just anti-%". so what we get, is "we are not reddit/4chan", where they just want to continue the clique but dont want them to repeat the culture that is killing them inside. like "culture in vacuum" (impossible)...
well sure didnt think vit will. thinking that i am "one of OGs" now, - that i could be brut like jaguar or even what babble got into at such short time (which could be the reason why i wrote what i did, because) he became my raison d'etre on forum if i could "beat him up" where he belonged... "what, some newbie can spew radical thoughts like that!?! of course not. i remember how [long] this took Me
[and i (when still on-site) still fight for my life (holding on straw), "hold in there, kitty"...] yet, see yourself"...
yeah, those all other things "i forgot"... i guess with AI, i just wanted to see what random things (discord markovian chains) or what it will deduce (character.ai), yet when i tried, nothing. even songs from chat (few) got no rhytm, i guess prose and poetry cant make up hip-hop "just like that".
other things like sharing chats on my [google]site no one ever visits or that one tumblr - at that moment, it just fit to the concept of "zillennila lost futures". still can change names on both, all three.
as punp or no56(?) said it, looking back, it was really "toxic" how i was seen as "cute weird puppy", while, tbh, that was kinda my (pathological) goal as someone who was "edgy, online"...
i havent (talked like they do) because when it was worse ("npc talk") i laught, if it was better (s/t. risingthumb or parzival/or others, similar, like that guy with metal "nazi" (it wasnt, but looked like it) symbol) would say, tho i respected only one of those and the other, 40% of time), i was angry. so i played my own game where no one could surpass "that". as the modern proverb go, "they cant say if you do good if they dont know what you are (actually) doing"...
I laugh at things like this all the time that I don't share. I have maybe 2 friends that I joke with about anything privately who I know will not take it seriously. Yeah, the forum is more tolerant of edge than most of the Internet, but you really can't joke about peoples families unless they are your best friends, and even then, they would probably still be mad that you did it publicly.
I think you get it. You know it was a mistake to share it.
But there is no use focusing on just that. All the mods said it was the "the straw that broke the camel's back." And truth is, they probably gave you longer than most mods would give you.
In my opinion the thing that would help you the most is if you practice talking like other people so that you blend in. Don't do long stream of conscious talks where you make up grammar rules on the fly and use short hand that even you can't tell what you meant later.
Write in shorter sentences as you are practicing. Take the time to learn "is this the proper way to say it?" before you hit post.
You can do it.
I'm glad you liked it. I had to rerun through it since it's been so long, but yeah it always picks janitor. The idea was that no matter how esteemed your background was in your old life, you start as a nobody.
I remember the reason I quit working on it is because I expected myself to know where I was going with the story but I really just didn't.
After replaying through it after so long, I do kind of feel like there was potential there that I could maybe re-explore.
Have a nice, great day, weekend (if can) and <all i could say, was said in "Prologue" of this AMA> - who asked me again about "why i...", mainly about "why am i like that", good sir, sir - it was answered (i suppose) in embeds, to be seen here: !!! (ah, /shrug)
i wrote "the script" because i noticed and reacted upon me-sided ~hostility~. i did that because (for [how] the xth time [i] said---,) --- i strive for attention (i guess?), direction ~ see the answer about "dommy mommy fetish", above...
will wait for other AMAs if you need like it. what i said in the start (of this, "AMA"), - is that +-, quote of >>0x0..002,
How [they] hate [him, SP (me)] because… Basically of what we saw today, because every time he posts, it is either pain or nonsense, or both at once - I wanted to wrote how HK finally snaps and reverse Carrie force leads others to "randomly" (fate? plot?) meet, despite all odds."
(wanted to write for sake of it, because it was, at the moment, funny to me. and still kind of is. no means to be mean-spirited. wrote it as kind-hearted critique of circlejerk we had...)
- many such cases. i thought "schizo forum" was about vaporwave or conspiracies. but chat, tbh, kills it a lot... good (mostly) that chat got disabled view on offline/guests. (/n, continues below:)
- less quality posts, more of drama. i guess it is not mensa, yet, i cant deny even in mensa theyd have "regards" moment about gossip and id hate it the same, lol. just my nature... if you notice how risingthumb/aaron texts, im just lite version of that (ok, tuned out by 79%) XD #poastgoals
- i p(o)asted my WHY above in the starters of this thread. but these are new so i go with it.
i guess being ESL, i forgot/never noticed how englishmen chat so i just write in "slovak order" but in english, word-for-word formula. can be eyesore on OSV-VSO (or so) differences and minuscule language/chat nuances!
- i wanted to elim. doubleposts, make tags group similar threads (until that worked. after that, i make it a "function" of discoverability than SEO. i just wanted to help shrug)
> I am sure there is internal logic to your method, but through the years I could never tell what hidden connections you saw when tagging the threads like you did.
> porc needs to learn to post more coherently otherwise he will never be accepted anywhere
- thinking id write and reply in slovak then, but it is too late then. maybe it is just chat and users quantity (than quality, but that is for to explain some other time) which makes me whorey (edgy, "horny" for being weird... not that much pleasure, than audience... and power of internet, opinions on web (something to 45% similar to “The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.”, but more about creating that love by force than being vurnerable...))
The solution is just to put that person into a role that doesn't allow tagging. That solves the behavior and allows the user to still participate on the forums
Okay, his tagging is annoying. Petition the admin to create a new user role just for him so he can't tag threads. He also spams links in chat, so you ban him from the chat or create a special chat room where he's isolated from everyone else. He keeps making threads and posts that most people find completely incomprehensible, so you limit him to a special sub-forum or make it so he has to ask permission before making a post. What's left for him to participate in at that point? You are policing everything he does and are effectively telling him "we are going to hold your hand until you start doing everything differently." And now, if you want to at least try to be fair, you're also committing yourself to doing all this stuff for every other user who might make a bunch of incomprehensible posts in the future. By creating all these special cases for this one particular user you've blurred the line between what is and isn't considered acceptable and have created a bunch of pointless containment forums/chats that make controlling the forum discourse more complicated, all while still effectively removing him from the site and accomplishing exactly the same thing as a ban. It would be pure mental gymnastics, all to get around having to say the b-word. What's worse, committing to that kind of hand-holding and hands-on moderation would set a bad precedent for the site in the future. I am not going to let Agora turn into another old web forum with a long list of rules and moderators who watch everyone like prison guards.
I've said my piece and am not going to waste any more time arguing over this unless it's with Porcupine himself.
Actually, it's an apt analogy because it compares appropriate levels of severity when it comes to responding to events. You modified the example to add nothing to it because both kicking the kid out and locking them in the closet would be excessive and the wrong solution
> I think you're just offended at the general concept of banning someone from posting on a website and are trying to pretend that coming up with a bunch of arbitrary rules designed to prevent a particular person from doing 99% of what they come to a website to do is somehow better because it technically isn't a ban.
Clearly you haven't been put into any sort of position of authority before, so I'll spell it out for you: moderators, or anyone with authority over a situation, are put in place to keep things in control. They have tools in place to help them to do this. Banning is an obvious one because it is generally the most extreme and one that people don't want to have happen since it involves removing a person entirely from the situation
So if someone is being annoying with things like tagging, guess what? Xenforo (the forum software that powers Agora) allows mods and admins to prevent users in specific roles from messing with thread tags. The solution is just to put that person into a role that doesn't allow tagging. That solves the behavior and allows the user to still participate on the forums
To use this same analogy (which is a stupid one because it implies that not being able to post on a website is as serious as starving to death), "corrective measures" in this situation would have meant locking the kid in a closet where nobody could hear him instead of kicking him out. It's the same result with less bullshit and beating around the bush about what you're actually doing.
I think you're just offended at the general concept of banning someone from posting on a website and are trying to pretend that coming up with a bunch of arbitrary rules designed to prevent a particular person from doing 99% of what they come to a website to do is somehow better because it technically isn't a ban.
