I don't have an exact date yet, but I'm most likely going to be shutting down the board.
Something I've told myself for a while is that it doesn't hurt to keep it up. But it's a bit of sunken cost fallacy, because there's no benefit to keeping it up either. It was a cool thing I made but even if I don't work on more features for it, I have to maintain the server it's on. I have to keep up with CVEs. I have to install updates. And every ounce of energy that goes into this board is energy that is not put into my other projects. Another layer of this problem is that even if I leave it in the background while focusing on other tasks, it's eventually going to distract me and lure me back into working on it again, since that's just how I am.
I'm not just going to shut it off over night. I want to get it into a state where I can make static copies of the entire site and then preserve the archives. Keeping at least that as a memento online is how I'm going to justify the work I put into this thing and also turn away from it.
The blog at goeshard.org will stay up so I'm not going anywhere.
> if not you are gay just saying
guess I'm gay then lol
What reasons do you have for wanting me to keep it up, honestly?
Would you be willing to moderate if I was going to consider it?
Basically what it comes down to is that I don't want to have the up and down where it seems like the site is starting to take off, there's a couple returning posters, and then days later it's dead again for over a week. It calls me back in and then rug pulls me. Then I realize the whole time, I could have been doing something else.
Most people who don't use imageboards check out immediately because it's not their style. People that do use imageboards see that it's not the same as imageboard software they are used to and it makes them bitch and moan. So it's just not a meritted site. We're propping up a dead body that belongs in the ground.

> What reasons do you have for wanting me to keep it up, honestly?
It's a cool site and when the right people find it they will post on it.
> So it's just not a meritted site. We're propping up a dead body that belongs in the ground.
The small web is supposed to be slow.
> Then I realize the whole time, I could have been doing something else.
I get it.
> Would you be willing to moderate if I was going to consider it?
Sure.
>>0x000004
Alright, you are the mod now.
We'll try this out until November or until you don't want to do it anymore.
It shouldn't be a big deal, you just have to watch it daily, sometimes move things to /trash/. If there is an incident, you can lock boards, delete posts, and let me know.
EDIT: let's not talk about moderation publicly. hmu on my phone if you need to.
Just a catchall thread for
> asking a question
> making a suggestion
> giving feedback on the site.
> reporting some kind of bug
Be sure to read: https://board.goeshard.org/thread/posting-guide/
There seems to be a lot of ALMOST nsfw stuff in a lot of posts.
Would it be better to make a contained (and well moderated) /nsfw/ board? That way it doesn't leak into other boards
>>0x000006
It's better to discuss subjects like this in /meta/, whether you open a new thread or not is up to you.
> There seems to be a lot of ALMOST nsfw stuff in a lot of posts.
If there are specific post that you don't think belong where they are, you can bring it up here.
Without links to specific posts, I can only guess exactly which ones you're talking about. Of course I know that you're not wrong about this. I move threads that are subtle gooner posts to the /trash/ all the time but if there is something I missed or overlooked, you have to specifically point it out.
> Would it be better to make a contained (and well moderated) /nsfw/ board?
I don't think people are posting photos of celebs and drawings of women because they have no dedicated place to post their favorite porn stars getting double penetrated. Again, I'm having to guess what you're talking about here.

https://board.goeshard.org/thread/stephanie-priscilla/
This is the only thread that is "almost nsfw" but it's also the best thread on the site. So why would you move it to a space for porn when there is a lot to like about it.
https://board.goeshard.org/thread/vintage-girl/
This thread is the one I would be most embarassed if someone saw me looking at it. But... feels like a me thing because I can't really explain why in a way that makes sense.
https://board.goeshard.org/thread/cyberpunk/#0x000041
The image on this post is fine, but the text is a bit annoying. Not a huge deal. Feels more annoying to complain about it than the post itself.
Other than that, there isn't really anything.
> nsfw
means "not safe for work", I don't know about you but I would not look at this site at work. One day there was a thread of AI generated dicks on /main/ for several hours until Nobo removed them.
I like that someone cleans it up and I come back later to things looking nice and organized. But anything could happen here.
> I can't really explain why in a way that makes sense
it is because you are not gay
How many people understand the original post hijacking I wonder...
https://board.goeshard.org/thread/euukantiporn-dsa/
It's actually really helpful to do that if you know how to do it.
EDIT: if you don't know
If a thread OP and its thumbnail don't explain and show what a thread is about, someone can hijack the thread by writing a post with a better title, a better thumbnail, and a bettery intro text. And if they do it right, I will give them the hijack and put their post at the top.
Look at the metadata to see the post order after hijack is not chronological.
I know you said before that I could, plus I'm going to have my own real web page for my articles soon.
>>0x000002
> What are you changing it to?
Opus
It's easier to say, more memorable. I also got the website address https://opus.nekoweb.org
>>0x000005
Yeah I am second guessing if I should stay on nekoweb.
The people on the Discord are so annoying.
Remember, if you want to disable visibility of any board, you can do so under:
Menu > Board Display Options
https://board.goeshard.org/user/options/board/
You need an account though.
>>0x000003
> The sage option is broken now since you added new boards.
ah, good call. I have a bunch of things I want to fix all at once. I'll eventually get to it.
I've been draining too much time into this board lately though so no ETA on that.
Hello. /main/ is where good posts go. If your post is shit, it goes in the /trash/ ... simple right?
Many posts on this board are made by anonymous users, nobody. So if you make a post without registering an account and logging in, that's who you will be. You won't be able to edit or delete anything you post. I mostly have this so that it's easy for a random passerby to try posting on the site.
If you want to have a name that is yours, you can register an account. I recommend not revealing too much personal information if you choose to do this, since this is the Internet.
The benefits of having your own account: you can delete and edit your posts, you don't have to do captchas, you have less cooldown time to wait between posts, and you can use the shorturl service at https://this.goeshard.org
So... What do you think?
It's pretty annoying when you post a YouTube link and it won't show it without going to YouTube...
but there isn't much we can do about that.
Here is a dog.
1. Sometimes a thread is trashed because the OP chose to put it there. This is a very respectable poster. They do not get warnings.
2. Sometimes a thread lives on /main/ for a short time: days, weeks, months. It's because I initially assume that it's possible it will become a better thread and have opted to give it a chance. But as time passes it becomes clear that it's just noise that signals other posters to continue in directions I don't want to see on the front page anymore. I don't hold this against the poster, since I myself was willing to try it out. It just didn't work out, so no warning is issued.
3. When a post gets a warning, it's because I immediately had to move it there for obviously having no redeeming value, or because something was posted in a thread it shouldn't have been so I moved it into a trashed thread. I will try to always state why I issued warning so that you can see what not to do by lurking /trash/.
The TLDR, is that having your thread moved to the /trash/ is not that serious. If you post on /main/ and it doesn't work out, it's not the end of the world.
You probably noticed already but the future of this site is being a blog on the front page. I built a system where a board post can be attached to a blog post to use the thread as a comment space for the blog.
One problem with that is that if every blog post had its own thread, the board would become filled with unnecessary threads. So this is going to be the default comment thread.
Welcome to the board.
Here is a thread for annoucing new features; feel free to comment.
- added a button on the thread's list view page that lets you sort in reverse. This makes it easier to post to the top of long threads instead of scrolling to the bottom. It will remember your preference for each thread. [picrel]
- hide new posts on the Latest Posts page if the user has hid the thread they are in.
The best time to suggest something for this board is while I'm working on it.
This offer to care about your opinion is limited time.
>>0x00000d
> my button image disappeared
yeah... to be perfectly honest with you, I'm not sure why this happens yet.
Maybe it will become obvious if more people start experimenting with it.
