It's an open source ascii dungeon crawler in vanilla javascript with some visual enhancements. It was made by users on Agora Road. It's pretty compelling for what it is.

I recommend putting all your starting points into attack so you don't die

I tried and just didn't get a run.
When you've never gotten very far before, it's easy to stay patient and work out the most successful procedure. But after that, it's hard to not rush. Maybe I'll try again tonight.
I'm going to adjust my starting to this.
I used to max out STR but I'm curious if you can split that with END and start equipping better armor sooner. Haven't decided yet.
Then on every level I do STR, END, and SPD. I go with those stats early mainly because they're prereq for better armor and weapons. The higher speed is just a quality of life thing that is more important to me than the other stats.

Downside of this approach is that, if I had maxed out STR, I would already be close to equipping Nunchucks. I think this is one of those games where the best defense is high offense, so that you never take hits in the first place. But we'll try this out.
As for starting rings, not really my favorite options here.
+1 SPD feels kind of wasteful since I'm already going to be draining level up points into SPD.
The Valentines Day Ring is good, since it will supplement HP from points we won't be spending on that.
I don't usually start persuading in early game, since it's frustrating to fail and die from attempting it. But maybe I'll try to do it with Sexy Underwear on Floor 1 Before I move on.

No. It's a waste of time to persuade this early.
Probably the most confusing thing to player who haven't looked at the code is how persuasion works. They want to try it out but the chances of it working early game are almost impossible.
Lost that run. I would have shown you the game over screen but it resets to title screen automatically. It should probably be set to change on player input so you can look at your game state to see what happened.
I realized another thing. SPD isn't just a quality of life stat. It lets you grind fast. If you get a high speed, you can grind quickly, and leave floor 1 with ATLATL SPEAR. At this point I don't take damage, but we'll see how that changes on floor 2.
The reason you are incentivized to grind up to a certain point on floor 1 is because you know that you will get a guranteed merchant but after leaving floor 1, you don't know when the next merchant will be.
Now floor 2 has a lot of chests that are dangerously hidden behind cracked floors.
Fuck all those chests, I go for the early exit.
The most dangerous enemy in this game is not paying attention to the cracked floor tiles and falling. No matter how good your build is or whatever, if you fall, it's done, so if there is uncertainty about if its safe to cross one, don't cross it,
On floor 6, I'm killing creatures with 1 hit at STR 35.
STR 33 is also the strength required for the best weapon in the game,
so that's about time to pivot to raising another stat.
I would like to start persuading, but that requires tanking hits on failed attempts. So reaising DEF, PRS, and END now.
Got a level 7 merchant and upgraded to Milanese Armor. At endurance 34 we can get best armor in the game and it's just a matter of having enough money. So now we start upgrading Luck.
On level 8, even after grinding PRS to to 37 and DEF to 42 (with armor), I still can't get a successful persuade that is worth the damage I take for the attempt. It's a risk that I won't make it to the next level before I run out of HP, which I have not upgraded at all. My build depends on not taking damage. So we're going to grind here to 2000 BTC and get the best armor in the game.
Moving on to level 9, I still can't persuade for shit.
The best armor is good, but the load makes me have to listen to the breathing SFX, so I might go back to raising END. Also raising HP because I don't think it's possible to grind persuade attempts without having good HP as well.
On floor 13, I've won 2 gambling sessions with Luck 38 so we'll cut that off. I have the Cathode Ray Monitor (best weapon in the game), so there's really nothing left to spend money on except torches and items that reveal the exit early so we can get deeper faster.
Having the stacked equipment slows you down to an uncomfortable speed again, so we are going for SPD, END + HP. Now we should be able to use a torch on every floor and avoid getting ourselves killed while having full observability of the level's resources.
I didn't see exactly what floor I fell through on, but it was probably 15-17.
I didn't realize it was possible to fall through a crack on first step. But my encumbrance was high from best equipment and maxing out torches.
